About us
The Coalition for Sustainable Transport Policy (KTPP) is an advocacy platform that, based on professional arguments and cooperation among various societal actors, calls for sustainable mobility and a just transition to a carbon-free society. Through our work, we hold a mirror to existing policies and spatial (transport) arrangements, raise awareness of good practices and trends in sustainable development, and strive for high-quality, accessible, and expert discussion in the field of transport. Our aim is to contribute to the actual implementation of a mobility transition that promotes accessibility.
The members of KTPP include representatives of non-governmental organisations, scientific institutions, regional development agencies, municipalities, educational institutions, and interested individuals.
The Coalition was formed in December 2005 as a response to the public debate on national transport policy. Since its inception, KTPP has been coordinated by CIPRA Slovenia. CIPRA Slovenia is a non-governmental organisation in the public interest status on sustainable mobility and nature conservation and has been active in the field of sustainable transport policy and sustainable mobility for more than 20 years.
Our Purpose
Slovenia is facing the challenge of transforming its transport system in line with sustainability and climate goals. Traditional transport arrangements often focus on the individual use of cars, which has a range of negative impacts on the environment and public health. A transport system based on private car use is also the most expensive—both for users and for society. A transport transition is needed, one that prioritises accessibility and sustainable modes of mobility (walking, cycling, and public transport).
The lack of involvement of the public, experts, and various institutions in shaping spatial and transport arrangements only deepens the problem of car dependence, as spatial planning does not rely on accessibility by different modes of travel. At the same time, existing facilities are not accessible by foot, bicycle, or public transport.
Activities of the Coalition for Sustainable Transport Policy:
- Actively participating in the development of transport policies and spatial–transport solutions at the local, national, and European levels.
- Building a strong and well-connected network of non-governmental organisations, experts, and institutions that enables knowledge exchange, mentorship, and support for new initiatives.
- Providing professional and evidence-based advocacy grounded in verified facts and partnerships with research institutions.
- Raising public awareness of sustainable mobility and encouraging changes in travel behaviour as well as participatory transport planning.
